Unity Balancer v0.8.2
- New: Limiter page now has a "GR Lnk" control -- links the mastering compressor's current gain reduction into the limiter's Input Drive, for automatic, program-dependent gain compensation. Off by default.
- Removed the SPECTRUM view from the Compressor page (WAVE and CURVE remain); it showed general frequency content with no connection to compression, so it added no diagnostic value there.
Previously in v0.8.1:
- Fixed: the CURVE view (Cmp-Vari page) could appear frozen and not update live -- now updates in real time like WAVE and SPECTRUM.
- macOS installer: CLAP is now offered as an installable format alongside VST3 and Audio Unit.
Previously in v0.8.0:
- Compressor page live view: added a third "CURVE" view alongside WAVE and SPECTRUM, showing the compressor's live transfer curve (input-to-output response) with a moving position indicator. Click the view button to cycle through all three.
- Improved the WAVE view's gain-reduction highlight color for better visibility.
- Fixed an issue where the SPECTRUM view could render incorrectly.
Previously in v0.7.1:
- New plugin format: CLAP is now available on macOS alongside VST3 and Audio Unit.
Previously in v0.7.0:
- Compressor page: new live waveform display shows exactly what the compressor is doing in real time, with a blue highlight over the moments it is reducing gain, plus live Output and Gain Reduction readouts in the same view.
- New switchable frequency spectrum view on the Compressor page (the "SPECTRUM" button next to the waveform).
- Hover tooltips added to nearly every remaining control across all pages.
- macOS installer: choose which plugin format(s) to install (VST3 and/or Audio Unit) when both are available.
- Removed leftover beta/serial messaging -- Unity Balancer is completely free, no license or serial number required.
Previously in v0.6.4:
- Meter page: the five meters (In, Out L/R, Gain Reduction, Correlation) are now grouped into one unified panel instead of five separate tiles.
- New live release-time graph on the Cmp-Vari page: see exactly how the Dly/Fast/Avg/Slow controls blend together in real time as the program material changes.
Previously in v0.6.3:
- Meter page redesigned: separate left/right output level meters plus a dedicated gain-reduction meter that falls from the top as reduction increases, all in one view.
- Limiter Lookahead is now a real, adjustable control (Limiter page).
- New Compressor Sidechain HPF control (Cmp-Vari page): keep the compressor from reacting to low-end content below a chosen frequency.
Previously in v0.6.2:
- Help manual rewritten in full: every chapter now explains what each control does, why it was designed that way, and a recommended starting value.
- Session report (REPORT button) redesigned with clear section headers per module, plus host name, sample rate, and latency.
Previously in v0.6.1:
- General maintenance and reliability improvements.
Previously in v0.5.0:
- Help has been redesigned as a proper chaptered manual: click "H" and pick a chapter on the left (Rider/Pre/EQ/Cmp-Vari/Phase Guard 2/ Limiter/Meter/Routing/Controls/License) instead of one long scrolling page.
- Fix: hover tooltips were invisible (hidden behind the main panel due to a z-order issue) -- now display correctly.
Previously in v0.4.0:
- Hover tooltips added: hold your mouse over Ceiling/HardCl/True Peak on the Limiter page, Phase Guard/Bypass/M-S/Adaptive, the Pre/Post Comp buttons, or the REPORT button for a short explanation.
Previously in v0.3.0:
- Clicking the status line (ticker) now jumps straight to the matching Help chapter.
- New "REPORT" button on the Meter page: exports a session report (all parameters plus current meter readings) as a text file.
Previously in v0.2.0:
- Name simplified from "Unity Balancer RC" to "Unity Balancer".
- 4x oversampling: the full signal chain (Preamp through Limiter) now runs internally at 4x sample rate for the cleanest sound and to prevent inter-sample clipping.
- Hard Ceiling and True Peak are now visible and adjustable on the Limiter page, and are guaranteed to never be looser than your Ceiling setting -- the plugin always applies the stricter of the two.
- Pre/Post-Comp routing buttons (Pre/EQ page) now indicate whether that signal path has been fully verified or is newly added.
- Version number now visible in the header.
